Take Down Your Harp And Begin To Sing Again

Take Down Your Harp And Begin To Sing Again

These are crucial times that we live in today.

2Ti 3:1  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2Ti 3:2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2Ti 3:3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2Ti 3:4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2Ti 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2Ti 3:6  For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

2Ti 3:7  Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

But I'm here to tell you today that we do not have to be one of those listed here!

God has put special abilities in His people for the times we are living. Do you think He was caught off guard about what's going on in our world today? No! If we are not careful to keep our focus right, it can seem hopeless.

We can learn a lot from the Book of Daniel on this matter. Four young men were taken captive and carried off to Babylon. They were taken from everything that was familiar to them even their own families and taken to a place that was so foreign to them. But God had already prepared them, that they may be able to thrive there.

Dan 1:17  As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Not only did He put within them what was needed, He gave them favor.

Dan 1:9  Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego were set as rulers over the whole province of Babylon. They were continually challenged to bow to that culture of idol worship. But every time they refused and their lives seemed to be in jeopardy, God preserved their lives. The three Hebrew boys were delivered out of the fiery furnace by the fourth man in the fire (JESUS). Daniel was delivered out of the mouths of the lions. Each and every  time God demonstrated his Goodness and the Kings admitted that Daniel's God was the living God. It is true what the Bible says that it is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance!

We must not bow to this world system that screams of so much that is contrary to the Word of God, for instance, there are many roads to God, same sex marriage is ok, it's ok to kill unborn babies and now with 50 Shades of Grey...that this is the picture of true romance. No, I say, WE MUST NOT BOW!  The Bible is still true and is the standard by which we must live!

In the Book of Daniel there are two camps of people, the Daniels and those that had hanged their harps upon the willows.

Psa 137:1  By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

Psa 137:2  We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

Psa 137:3  For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

Psa 137:4  How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land.

Their harps were once instruments that they used to sing songs to the Lord and after captivity, they were used to console their sad spirits. They evidently became weary in well doing and hung them up. Probably said in their hearts, this is of no use, I give up! There are a lot of people like that in the church today because of seemingly unanswered prayer, circumstances of life, etc. We can't be like those that chose to sit around crying about how things used to be and refused to sing songs of praise and adoration to GOD no matter their circumstances.

Gods Word says,

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

So what I am trying to say is this:

If you have found that you are one that has hanged his harp upon a willow, don't be condemned! Get up take your harp down and begin to sing again!!!

God has put in you an excellent spirit!

God put the spiritual DNA in Daniel which enabled him to continue in his faith, his relationship with his God, enabled him to prosper and be exalted to a position of governing under several kings and empires, all while in CAPTIVITY!

We serve the KING OF KINGS and belong to a better KINGDOM! We have what it takes to rule and reign! God has placed the spiritual DNA in this generation for this time!
